The city of Sturgis is on board with stopping COVID-19 from spreading. With the recommendations from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Sturgis has made changes such as canceling local events and making changes within business procedures.
Effective immediately, the city has taken action to cancel all events that are 100 people or greater. With that, some other gatherings could be canceled as well, based on at-risk groups. The events at places like the Sturges-Young Center for the Arts and Doyle Community Center, which are sponsored by the city, will be rescheduled as well.
In order to find information regarding the changes and cancellations, visit the websites and Facebook pages for these businesses and groups. They will all be available online.
City Hall is closed to the public through Sunday, April 5. The city has also canceled all non-essential city board and commission meetings through that time. The city departments are still open for operation, but the public is asked to contact them via email or phone. For more information, visit the city's website at sturgismi.gov.
