Cost of college went up for all students at Glen Oaks Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.4 percent for 2018-19 at Glen Oaks Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Michigan residents paid $5,064 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $168 more than the $4,896 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 16.1 percent more than residents this year, or $5,880. Their price tag grew 2.9 percent from $5,712 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Michigan residents. And about 6 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 92 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 124 students received grants or scholarships totaling $560,539 and 44 students took out student loans totaling more than $196,258.

Including all undergraduates (1,201), 465 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2 million, and 165 students took out $777,939 in federal student loans.
