City of Coldwater issued the following announcement.
Effective at 8:00 AM on Monday, November 2, 2020, the City of Coldwater and Board of Public Utilities’ Customer Service desk, located in the Henry L. Brown Municipal Building, will be closed to the public until further notice due to concerns and recommendations regarding the recent surge of COVID-19 in Branch County. Much like their last closure, the Customer Service Department will be fully operational during this time and open to calls during office hours. The change intends to help protect the CBPU’s employees, as well as the general public.
City’s Neighborhood Services Office and Clerk’s Office, also located in HLB, will not be closed during this time. Residents may still drop off their ballots, early vote, and register to vote in the HLB lobby.
Utility customers will have many options for paying their utility bills without doing so in-person. The methods listed below have no additional fees:
DropBox: Located in front of City Hall’s Monroe St entrance and is available 24/7. Place check or money order in a sealed envelope with your address, name, and account number.
Mail: Address the envelope to CBPU, 1 Grand Street, Coldwater, MI 49036.
Automatic Bill Pay: Signing up for an automated payment plan is as easy as filling out an online form.
The following payment methods are facilitated by our authorized and safe 3rd party vendor PSN and include additional fees:
Over the phone payment: 1-877-885-7968
Paying through PSN using your checking or savings account will incur a $1 convenience fee. If you wish to pay using your credit card, there will be a convenience fee of 2.75% of your payment. The CBPU is currently working hard to remove these charges.
“By doing this, we hope to better protect both our employees and residents against the recent spike in cases. If you usually visit City Hall to pay your utility bills or to request a service order, we ask that you please use a different method. We appreciate our customers’ patience as we transition into this closure.” – CBPU Director, Jeff Budd.
