STURGIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Sturgis Public School Families

S

Sturgis Public Schools issued the following announcement on Nov. 16.

Governor Whitmer just announced the following restrictions:

High schools must transition to remote learning from Wednesday, November 18th through Tuesday, December 8th.

Schools must pause all athletics and after-school activities (practices and contests) effective immediately through Tuesday, December 8th.

The Governor went on to say that:

Pre-schools, elementary schools, and middle schools may continue to offer in-person instruction.

High schools may continue to offer in-person instruction for special education and ELL students.

Sturgis Public Schools will:

Continue in-person instruction for all Option A Elementary School (Grades K-5), GSRP, and ECSE students.

Continue hybrid (alternating every-other-day between in-person and at-home) instruction for all Option A Middle School (Grades 6-8) students.

Transition all Option A High School (Grades 9-12) students to fully at-home learning from Wednesday, November 18th through Tuesday, December 8th. November 16th will still be an in-person day for Black Day Students and November 17th will still be an in-person day for Orange Day Students. More information will be communicated by Sturgis High School staff, and expect Google Classroom to be the main content delivery system. Students should coordinate with their advisory teacher if they have connectivity issues and need printed materials. Lastly, high schools may offer in-person instruction to special education and ELL students. We are looking into how to best offer this instruction, and will provide more information after we have had time to explore our options.

Pause all athletics and after-school activities (practices and contests) effective immediately through Tuesday, December 8th.

Continue fully at-home instruction for all Option B students. Option B students will continue to utilize Edgenuity (Grades K-5) and Odysseyware (Grades 6-12).

We will continue to keep you informed as we learn more.
