Sturgis Journal issued the following announcement on Dec. 14.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported Monday that, since Friday, two more COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in the county, bringing the cumulative total to 41. The number of new cases has dropped in the past three days (15, 21 and 29, respectively) from a recent trend of new per-day case rate of 22 to 59, with most in the 30s or 40s. As of Monday, Sturgis Hospital has one COVID-19 patient and Three Rivers Health has three. Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo has 24 COVID-19 inpatients, and 3 in ICU facilities.
One laboratory confirmed influenza A H3N2 result was reported for the week of Nov. 21-28 in the state. Additional influenza-like-cases have been reported statewide.
In county assisted living facilities, Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis has had no new COVID-19 resident cases over the past week. Birch Meadows in Three Rivers has had 16 new cases, also the facility's total case number; Fairview Living Center in Centreville has had 6 new cases in the past week. Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers has had 7 new cases in the past week among its residents.
