Position Type: Union-TREA, Music Teacher

Date Available: 2021-22 Academic Year

Building: Andrews & Norton Elementary

Reports to: Building Principal

Salary: Consistent with Master Bargaining Agreement; consideration of education and years of experience

POSITION GOAL: To provide instructional services for students in the Andrews & Norton Elementary Music program

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education
  2. Must have Michigan Teacher endorsement in elementary education, all subjects or general elementary designation and demonstrate compliance as a “highly qualified teacher” as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.
PREFERRED:

  1. Michigan Teacher endorsement in Music Education (JX or JQ).
  2. Previous teaching experience in a comparable district
  3. Desire to coach, and/or be an advisor for student activities. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Qualified candidates should skillfully demonstrate the following:
  2. the ability to prioritize student-learning needs over the customs, routines, and established relationships that can stand in the way of necessary change; 
  3. the strong desire to achieve outstanding results in a short amount of time; 
  4. the strong desire and ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students in order to exert academic press and influence; 
  5. the skill and willingness to leverage the student support network to ensure that students’ social, emotional, nutritional, and health needs are addressed; 
  6. the ability to collaboratively create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning; 
  7. the capacity to rigorously create and sustain a well-orchestrated system of ongoing data collection and analysis to inform a continuously responsive and adaptive system of tiered instruction attentive to students’ specific academic needs;
  8. Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  9. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with the district provided curriculum. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. 
  10. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. 
  11. Provide appropriate feedback on work. 
  12. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. 
  13. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs. 
  14. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development. 
  15. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
  16. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job duty
  17. Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
