Sturgis Public Schools issued the following announcement on Jan. 24.
In November 2021, the SPS Board of Education surveyed families, staff, and community members. The goal of the survey was to gather input as the Board worked to select 3-5 essential skills "Traits of a Trojan" that the district would prioritize and grow from preschool through graduation.
In December 2021, four focus groups drafted what 3-5 traits they felt would best support our students throughout life. These teams reviewed the survey results (there were 300 responses to the survey) prior to making their drafts.
In January 2022, the Board of Education reviewed the survey results, reviewed the focus group recommendations, and drafted the following "Traits of a Trojan." These traits are still in the draft phase, and the Board is looking for students, staff, parents, and community feedback to make improvements to them.
The goal is to continue to ensure high quality content delivery (e.g. English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Career & Technical Education, Fine & Preforming Arts, Physical Education, Foreign Language, etc...), but to enhance the content through soft skills "Traits of a Trojan" that are so important in life.
If you have feedback on the following traits, please email your feedback to the Board of Education at boe@sturgisps.org
