“A Retrospective of 22 Years at the Oaks,” a collection of artworks of Professor Michael Northrop, is now on display in the Flora Kirsch-Beck Art Gallery on the campus of Glen Oaks Community College.

The exhibit features 32 pieces of art in addition to photos of other installations of art across the state of Michigan. It encompasses a range of Northrop’s work over the past 22 years while teaching as a professor at the college and includes oil paintings, pastels, egg tempera, stained glass, blown glass and hand-drawn lithographs. The collection will be on display through February 1.

Northrop, of Three Rivers, Michigan, attended Olivet College and Western Michigan University where he holds a Master of Fine Art in Painting. Through the years, he has had exhibits at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art, the Grand Rapids “Celebrations” exhibit, and the Carnegie Center for the Arts in Three Rivers.

“My tenure at Glen Oaks has opened amazing doors professionally,” said Northrop. “Many of my works have included Glen Oaks students as models.”

The exhibit is free and will be open Mondays through Thursdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. through Dec. 16, while the college is open. It will reopen again on Jan. 11 when winter classes begin. For further information about the exhibit, please contact Professor Northrop at 269-294-4277 or through email at: mnorthrop@glenoaks.edu.
