City of Sturgis issued the following announcement on Dec. 24.

The Southwest Branch of the American Public Works Association awarded the City of Sturgis the 2020 Project of the Year Award for Historical Restoration/Preservation greater than $1M category for the Pleasant Avenue Reconstruction project. The project was funded in part by a Michigan Transportation Alternative Program grant of $621,730.00 and was developed with a significant public engagement process. It resulted in a noticeable facelift to this historic downtown street. A big thank you to all involved, including the City Commission, participating citizens, City staff, consulting engineers and designers, and contractors on the project.
