Branch County will disinfect government buildings and vehicles as a measure to protect public health in the age of COVID-19.
Quincy Community Schools will assist with the cleaning, and Branch County Administrator Bud Norman said the Quincy Fire Department will loan an electrostatic gun to the emergency operations center, according to the April 8 Daily Reporter article.
Fire, law enforcement and road commission vehicles were sanitized while facilities like the jail are scheduled to be cleaned with a special disinfecting spray, Norman said, the publication reported.
Norman and sheriff John Pollack said inmates’ health and safety are a priority. Pollack told The Daily Reporter that the jail will be disinfected “at least on a weekly basis” and inmates’ temperatures will be checked at least once a day.
Pollack said his office will screen anyone in its custody for the disease, which has infected more than 900,000 residents nationwide with more than 50,000 deaths.
