State Representative Jennifer Wortz of Coldwater has issued a statement regarding the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” The bill is currently under discussion in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Wortz commented, “Today, I voted no on the so-called ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’ While I support bipartisan solutions and efficient government, this 1,200-page omnibus bill was rushed through without proper transparency or public input. Our constituents deserve better.”

She added, “It’s important that every lawmaker and citizen has the opportunity to review legislation that will impact our state for years to come. We need an open process that encourages dialogue and accountability.”

The legislation consolidates several policy areas into one package. Lawmakers have debated whether such an approach allows for effective scrutiny of each provision. The process by which large omnibus bills are advanced has drawn criticism from some legislators who argue it limits debate and public participation.

Wortz concluded, “I remain committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver results for Michigan families—but not at the expense of transparency and good governance.”
