City of Sturgis issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.
A new outdoor fireplace is ready to warm up the chilly fall and winter nights in downtown Sturgis this year thanks to a collaborative effort between Wings Etc., the Sturgis Area Community Foundation, Downtown Development Authority, and the City of Sturgis. The fireplace is located behind the Wings Etc. building in a public seating area and offers visitors a warm place to gather during downtown events or casual visits to downtown.
The City of Sturgis installed the fireplace, which was funded with support from the Sturgis Area Community Foundation, Downtown Development Authority, Sturgis Wings Etc. and the City of Sturgis. Sturgis City Manager Mike Hughes stated, “this type of community collaboration allows projects like the fireplace to be possible”.
